Origin of Resonance

Resonance Point

It began with a pure resonance with a single artist. Masato Yamaguchi is an artist who was baptized by the music, fashion, and design of 90s Tokyo, and has sublimated that sensibility into contemporary art. We deeply resonated with his theme of "Trans-reality (reality beyond reality)" and his stance of continuously questioning "what is reality" by depicting women taking selfies. In that, the principles we continue to protect90s hip hopand the aesthetics overlap, leading to new worksConnectionIt began. What was surprising were the numerous synchronicities revealed through face-to-face interaction. The fact that we had lived breathing the same air, in the same era, as if separated only by "a single wall." This fated encounter became the final piece for the birth of this work, which transcends commercial boundaries.

Connection with Street Memories

Street Context Connection

This work is an attempt to envelop Mr. Yamaguchi's representative work, "Stencil Object," in the streetscapes we have breathed in. Facing the turntable at the center of the work is the fictional woman, "Luna."Her invisible beats are surrounded by the inorganic and wild scenery common to streets all over the world. The countless overlapping stickers on utility poles and walls, creating a "city = street's accumulation," have been elevated to the subject of expression. The base is engraved with the Cream Team Records logo, and spray-painted in a manner consistent with graffiti. The logos of legends symbolizing the atmosphere of the golden age of 90s HIP HOP are collaged as stickers. This base, where digital design and street improvisation intersect, is no longer just a foundation, but the memories of the city and Luna's music.To connect, to be part of a work.

Art piece that continues to grow

EVOLVING ART PIECE

The stickers applied to the details are not yet complete. Just as tags proliferate on the streets, changing the face of the city, this work will also continue to have stickers layered on, transforming it. Logos and graffiti, once a means of commercial advertising (promotion), merge with Mr. Yamaguchi's depiction of a "reality beyond reality" and are unified under a single context. To sublimate fleeting enthusiasm and consumable designs into "art pieces" with immutable strength. "Sticking stickers"Street culture connected to contemporary artand is sublimated into new expressions. The texture of dripping paint and the overlapping of ever-multiplying logos do not simply depict nostalgia. They are our declaration of intent to establish the fleeting flashes that overflow onto the streets as a "culture" that continues to grow eternally.

Masato Yamaguchi

Born in Tokyo in 1980. This artist was influenced by Tokyo's music, fashion, and design scene in the 90s, and has since elevated that sensibility into contemporary art.

Centering on the "SELFY" series, which questions identity in the SNS era, it advocates for "Trans-reality," blurring the lines between reality and virtual images. Using the persona "Luna" as a motif, it depicts the ever-changing nature of identity and continuously questions what reality is.

With a borderless career that combines meticulous compositional skills as a graphic designer with a wild sensitivity to the street, including collaborations with apparel brands "X-girl" and "Hatsune Miku." One of the most important figures on the contemporary art scene.
